Are You an Aspiring Wedding Planner?

I get calls and emails almost daily from aspiring wedding planners, asking me for a job or a chance to intern with my company. Most of those who contact me are sincere and passionate about a career in wedding and event planning. They are looking for the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, because as we all know, you can't get a job unless you have experience, and you can't get experience unless you have a job...and the cycle goes...

I wish I could hire or grant an internship to every one of them. I love teaching others the "art of the plan", as I call it, and watching the talent in each of them unfold...sort of like a proud mama! While I try to give them the best advice that I can in a short email or phone call, unfortunately I know frustration awaits them.

There is plenty of information available on what you need to know in order to be a wedding planner...and with experience and practice; the basics of wedding planning can be learned. But when it comes to figuring out a career path in the world of wedding planning, building a brand and then a wedding planning business, there is very little information on first steps, action plans and how to put it all together.

This blog and the Aspire to Plan™ workshops have been designed to help you with that road map. We want to help aspiring planners find out if wedding planning is really the career for them. We want to help them find their niche or passion as it relates to wedding planning and design, build a business based on that passion and determine the best way to go after it.

We hope you enjoy the content we provide and if there is a specific subject or question you'd like us to write about, please leave a comment below or write us at info{at}aspiretoplan{dot}com.

Next up is a post on how to determine if a wedding planning career is for you. We'll talk about following what you're passionate about and what skill set you already have. You'll begin to find out whether those things will really lead you down the path to becoming a wedding planner. Until then...

Aspire to Plan!
